An Abilene man who has been arrested and accused of drunk driving after his Jeep collided with another vehicle on June 20.

This man’s history of DWIs has left people questioning how the man is still driving legally. He has previously been convicted of 14 DWIs. In Texas, a license can not be revoked forever. Officials explain that a drivers license is automatically revoked after every DWI conviction, but their is process that a person can undergo to regain their driving privileges.

Any DWI conviction after your offense are third degree felonies, which is a $10,000 fine and can be up to two to 10 years in prison. After two convictions, the third one can be enhanced and a sentence can range from 25 to 99 years in prison.

If you or a loved one has been charged with a DWI, you need experienced representation on your side. Contact the Dallas felony DWI lawyers of the law office of Mark T. Lassiter by calling 214- 457-1668.

The Dallas Police Department is considering joining a growing trend among major metropolitan police departments by requiring DWI suspects to take a mandatory blood test, effectively proving or disproving a DWI suspect’s guilt. However, the expensive revamp might be too much for taxpayers to shoulder.

If the Dallas police get their wish, the ubiquitous Breathalyzer would no longer be used. While the blood test would be the most accurate way for officers in the field to measure blood-alcohol level, it would also cost about $360,000 every year, which may be out of the budget. If the city does decide that the move is in the budget, it could change the way DUI cases are handled.

If you or someone you love has been charged with a DWI, the Dallas DWI attorneys of the Law Offices of Mark T. Lassiter may be able to help you beat your charges. Contact us today by calling 214-457-1668.
